Navigating Grief & Trauma - Writing to Heal Special Webinar

Hello Reader,

Why do you write? Our Write|Publish|Sell community is full of all kinds of authors. Fiction writers, entrepreneurs writing a book to grow their business, memoir writers, children's book authors, other nonfiction... we cover a wide spectrum.

But no matter what type of book we're writing, we all have our reasons for writing. What is it that is the big WHY behind everything you do?

I write because it's cathartic. It started as a journey to heal from a significant loss, and has turned into so much more.

But what about you? What drives you?

Is it healing? Is it just entertainment? Is it to educate others? Is it an escape?

If writing is healing for you, you don't want to miss our event on Monday!

Register for our special webinar Monday, 10/16 at 1pm EST Here! Recording provided!

Monday we have a very special double webinar. Writing through grief and trauma (which let's be real - who isn't facing some sort of grief or trauma these days, and it impacts us!) and writing ABOUT grief in your novel.

The last few years have been full of trauma. And we all experience loss. Writing is such an excellent tool to help navigate grief.

My writing career began with writing through the traumatic loss of my infant daughter. If anyone understands the power of Writing to Heal, it's me. But it doesn't have to only be nonfiction books. I also wrote my first RomCom while healing from my divorce and surviving the Covid lockdown. We have compiled a special panel of authors and grief experts who will talk about Writing to Heal AND how grief impacts our creativity, with strategies to regain our writing mojo. I believe this will be a very impactful session. For all authors of all genres.

I chose the 16th for this webinar because of personal reasons.

October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness day. It is also the 10 year anniversary of the publication of my first book, Sunshine After the Storm: A Survival Guide for the Grieving Mother. The publication of this book officially launched my first imprint, Kat Biggie Press, and Write|Publish|Sell was born out of that.

So, I want to commemorate this important anniversary event a special webinar on Grief, Trauma, and writing. Not only writing to heal... but also, how to write about grief.

10/16/23 Double Header! We're talking Grief and Writing

I'm looking forward to a healing and beautiful session for writers on how to not only overcome this so that we can write, but also, how to use our stories to heal ourselves and others.

2nd Event (2pm EST - the webinar will just keep going for anyone who wants to stay)

Then we're following the webinar with a writing workshop, specifically on writing about grief and loss in your fiction.

Good Grief! Writing An Authentic Grief Experience In Your Novel with guest Louise Pachella

Learn about the physical and emotional manifestations of different types of grief to give your characters depth and relatability.

This applies to the death of a character AND to non-bereavement losses, such as divorce, infertility, loss of a home, or loss of independence. Louise will teach you to discard the notion of linear grief stages and ensure that your characters are properly impacted by loss, experiencing a realistic grief journey rather than recovering within the following chapter. At the end of the presentation, attendees will have a deeper understanding of a multitude of grief responses and know how to deliver an emotional punch that will resonate with readers. Topics covered will include the different types of grief, how children understand loss differently, and grief myths to avoid.

Louise Pachella educates writers about dead bodies, funerals, and all things related to death. She's going to instruct on the different kinds of grief and how to incorporate this into your characters if you're writing about death, grief, and loss in your novel.

Recordings of both events will be provided to all registrants, so register even if you can't attend live.

I'm really looking forward to this event. And I hope to see you there!

Hello Reader, Two big changes at Amazon KDP! No more download and transfer via USB No more .mobi files (very important!) First, let's discuss the hoopla over the download and transfer via USB. I've seen a lot of people losing their minds over the changes Amazon announced about Kindle downloads - including some viral TikToks that led to people wanting to boycott kindle entirely, and I wanted to make sure you've got the most up to date information to battle the disinformation. What’s Changing?...

Hello Reader, I can hardly believe we've entered December. Of course, I lost a good chunk of this year to a major health crisis, so I'm really GLAD to see December and say goodbye to 2024. I'm also REALLY glad to celebrate my 48th birthday this month. Because as my doctor reminded me recently, it wasn't guaranteed for a little while there. And I'm even happier that against all odds, we were able to get my 2nd RomCom published this year, The Paris Predicament by Lexi Haddock. (Shout out to my...
